…doing what we can, with our neighbors, for our community…

Stewardship

CARE has a broad and inclusive definition of Stewarship. Basically, we believe it means taking responsibility for ourselves, our neighbors and our community.

SWAN – Stewardship of Wetlands Areas By Neighbors (2007 – Present)

  • Clean up, restoration and stewardship of the Cemetery Road Bog and Wetlands Areas at the intersection of SE 128th St & 164th Ave SE

  • Won King County Small Habitat Restoration Project

  • Organizing volunteer work parties

  • Educational programs with local schools

164th Ave SE Adopt A Road (2008 to Present)
CARE and SWAN have taken Adopt A Road responsibility for the section of 164th Ave SE just ‘downstream’ of the Bog. Our section runs from SE 128th St to SR 900. So far, we have had one clean up day – November 1, 2008 – in conjuntion with the replanting along the dredged 164th Ave SE ditch. We will probably have out next clean up day in Summer 2009.

Support for residents of Wonderland Estates (2007)

  • The Over 50 Community faced losing their mobile home park to developers

  • Direct Donation

  • Spread the word to the community

  • Plant Rescue for those residents who did move before the park was saved

  • Eventually, the Wonderland residents were gloriously successful and saved their homes!
